Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero was an American model and singer. She is also co-starring with Prince in his 1984 film Purple Rain. She was the main female performer for Apollonia 6 and co-starred in Prince's film Purple Rain from 1984. The group was just one of the female artists who benefited of Prince's involvement in the 1980s. The actress was born Patricia Kotero in Santa Monica California in 1959 her career began as a model and actress by the end of the '70s with a role on the TV show CHiPS. In 1984, she was the title of female lead of Prince's Purple Rain (during which time she changed her name) as well as replacing Vanity in the female duo Vanity 6 which performed in the film with the title Apollonia 6. They scored a small smash with Sex Shooter however it was in the role of Prince's duet partner on Take Me with You from the soundtrack that she made a greater chart impact. The two were disagreement about the direction of her career Apollonia 6 split up and Kotero quit her relationship with Prince. Kotero went on to be featured in several minor films during this time (reportedly not wanting to be on the Purple Rain follow-up Under the Cherry Moon) prior to landing an appearance on the evening-time show Falcon Crest during 1985-1986. Apollonia finally released her debut album in 1988. However, the comparatively insignificant collection of songs that incorporated dance/R&B did not impress people who buy music and it soon disappeared out of sight. Apollonia remained in the spotlight (if a little under the radar) as an actress in the decade that followed, with a few television roles and minor films and released videos for exercises. In 1997, Apollonia released a Spanish/English album called Stay With Me. In later years, after going back to college and obtaining a degree for filmmaking she formed her production company. Apollonia is a multi-talented woman. She has worked as model, actress and talent manager. The role she played as an actor in 1984's Purple Rain made her a celebrity.
