Catherine Ford is a British actress born in Bloomsbury. Following the time her father's departure from the family members, she was raised up by her mother, grandparents, and godparents. In her childhood, Ford suffered anxiety due to an obsessional-compulsive disorder. Ford became interested in the field of acting during her teen years, and became a member of the National Youth Theatre. Ford gained entry to the Sylvia Young Theatre School, but decided after a week that she was a poor for the school. Ford made an application at the Central School of Speech and Drama and was eventually offered a position on her fourth attempt. Her classmate was Shaun Dingwall, who would play a part in the role of Pete Tyler in Doctor Who. Ford graduated in 1993. Before that, however, Ford made a television debut, appearing as a character in Surgical Spirit in an episode from the year 1991. Ford took the professional name of Catherine Tate. Tate was on television in the Nineties in shows like The Bill and Men Behaving Badly. The stage was her main focus, and joined the company's 2000-2001 season. Tate was soon recognized for her stand-up comedies, which were added to Tate's repertoire in 1996.
